Recognition of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan: Reply

← Previous revision Revision as of 01:58, 27 April 2026 Line 15: Line 15: *::You are implying that the article [[foreign relations of Afghanistan]] does not cover the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan because the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan is still a UN member, but the article already covers the Islamic Emirate. Furthermore we refer to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in past tense and treat the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan as, well [[Afghanistan]]. Links can be targetted to point to the specific section, so that is a pretty weak justification for keeping a duplicative article. In fact, I didn't even mention the IRA in my response to you above. That article should cover everything, including the emirate. I just don't think it's the best place to focus so heavily on all the thought that's going into formal recognition, when that page is much better suited for all this de facto policy communication and political manuvering they engage in with all sorts of sides; the page you wish to delete is covering a different and more narrowly defined topic. I only reminded you that Afghanistan is a UN member to remind you of its importance, since you compared Afghanistan to [[Northern Cyprus]], which I found strange, since it's approaching denial of Afghan statehood itself, something many Afghans would take issue with. Northern Cyprus is not widely considered a sovereign state, with almost every country recognizing the [[Republic of Cyprus]] as the rightful single state of the whole island. There's not a single country in the world denying Afghan statehood, so it's a bizarre argument to make that Afghanistan is as important as Northern Cyprus in terms of how many articles we have about it. [[User:TEMPO156|TEMPO156]] ([[User talk:TEMPO156|talk]]) 00:21, 27 April 2026 (UTC) *::::Northern Cyprus is the equivalent to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in this context, as they are both states with only one internationally recognised country providing recognition. There is an Afghan state, that Afghan state is the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. The Islamic Republic of Afghanistan has no government in exile, the fact that a UN seat (that lacks voting power) exists is a technicality.
